The owner is really into appliances. He convinced me to fix a machine I was sure was dead. They make it affordable to keep this stuff running. I would say call them if you arent sure if its worth fixing unlike most companies I called the owner Mark will take the call and actually talk to you about it before you book the appointment. Kinda cool. Thanks Reliable.

This has been a great company to work with for my rental properties. The owner is super responsive if I have an issue and they have stood by the repairs they have made. Rare experience here in Olrando with this trade. I recommend them all the time.

I called Reliable after another company failed to show up for my scheduled appointment on a Saturday. Marc, the owner answers the phone at 4 pm and say "no problem lets get it done now". I was like, WHAT?? Did not expect this, at all. A guy named Brian came over and he had the part to repair my dryer with him, somehow. Even though he told me is was the old type of heater, he had it! They charged me $128 dollars to fix my dryer, within an hour of my call to their office! I am so glad I found them and have them in my phone now when things go wrong now. I am tired of dealing with losers around here who say they will show up and then don't.

Interview Q&A How long have you been in business?
I am a new owner of Reliable Appliance Repair Services in Orlando and this brand has been in and around the Orlando Florida area in various forms and with various owners since 1963.

What is your primary product or service?
Our primary service offered to our clients is major appliance repair and service. We also have a supply component to the business whereby we offer filters for HVAC as well as water technologies and water filters for appliances. I also view us as a Recycling company because repairing a major appliance IS recycling a major appliance. My goals is universal waste reduction on products that are durable and well supported by manufacturers for repair. Far to many appliance repair companies essentially 'give up' on an appliance because they can be a challenge to repair and/or find parts for them. We pride ourselves on a higher level of service and support for our clients.

How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I owned and operated a mechanical company as well as a water technology manufacturing company. I have always been interested in the retail major appliance products. I find the innovations and technology integration that is occurring in the appliance manufacturing verticals, fascinating. This is an incredible time to be involved in what I call the next generation service and repair companies as these products become more computer than machine in many ways. The connectivity and integration the appliances of the near future will have with all aspects of our lives was my interest in taking this old repair brand know as "Reliable" and changing the business model to be high technology with old fashioned service. I believe this is a combination every generation of American currently operating these products is looking for in an 'in home' service company. I am proud of what we are doing and how we are supporting our community. The environmental aspect of this business also was a major interest for me. Having worked for a large environmental remediation firm I saw so much 'Universal Waste' improperly disposed of and NOT recycled. This included circuit boards, wiring, and other hazardous materials that end up directly in our dumpsters all over the cities and towns in Florida and consequently in our landfills. By keeping these machines operating longer, in homes and businesses, I am able to directly impact this waste stream in Florida at the 'grass roots'. Recycling appliance waste is so critical because there is so much of it and people are keeping them for shorter and shorter periods as this becomes an innovation driver industry. It is my goal to fix as much as possible for as many as possible because repairing an appliance IS recycling and appliance!

How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am supremely interested in supporting those in need. My goal for my business is to always be improving. This Mission and Vision lead us to constantly be exploring new and helpful business practices to the populations we serve. I am honored to serve our community in this country at this time. I give away a lot to elderly and veterans in need, first responders and the disabled. IF you know anyone in need of an appliance repair that simply cant afford it please call me directly so we can discuss how we can help. My goals is to donate 20 percent of our services per year on worthy candidates in need of help paying for and/or acquiring a new or used appliance to help in the activities of daily living.

How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently operate out of one location in downtown Orlando on Camerbur Drive off of Rio Grande a few blocks away from Camping World Stadium. This is an ideal office and warehouse location for our operations to serve the entire Orlando 'metroplex'.

Reliable Appliance Repair is located directly off 1110 South Rio Grande Ave which is two blocks from the Camping World Stadium (formerly Citrus Bowl Stadium) Camerbur Drive is a city street that looks like you are driving into a industrial park. We are half way down the building on the left with our Reliable Appliance Repair sign very visible and the 1616 located over the door. We are happy to receive smaller appliances such as microwaves and wine chillers at our location for repair. Just call our office to schedule a drop off.
